Helen Lami, the founder of Academic Summer has launched a joint venture to deliver high quality summer short courses at the David Game College campus, in the heart of the City of London.
The partnership will give students the opportunity to enrich their studies by investing in a productive summer learning experience. The camp will offer career pathway programmes designed to provide students with practical insights into medicine, engineering, law and business helping them to prepare for their futures. Students will also achieve a CPD leadership qualification during their summer camp.
David Game College has a history dating back almost 50 years and was set up by the eponymous David Game. The college is driven by a passionate belief in education and provides inspirational courses to help students develop both academic and life skills to succeed in the future. Since 1974 the college has helped more than 10,000 students progress to top UK universities.
Academic Summer, began in 2008 when Helen realised there were few high quality summer academic education experiences for young people within the UK – and for students from overseas interested in studying in the UK. Today it has an excellent reputation and its last inspection by the British Accreditation Council found no areas needed for improvement.
“When I started Academic Summer, I’d worked within other organisations and I’d worked overseas myself and I realised the value of learning alongside others from all over the world. It’s the enriching environment, it develops language and analytical skills and much more.
“It’s worth remembering that globally, studying in the United Kingdom is still seen – and rightly so – as the best education for success in the world.
“Back then I felt I could do it better by creating summer schools which are academic, involved fun and encouraged learning through ‘doing’. Our students and their wellbeing, safety and enjoyment area central to all that we do. We’ve always done our best to ensure they study areas of interest to them and their parents and it’s not a ‘one size fits all’ experience.”
The new Academic Camp at David Game College, which is based in Jewry Street in the City of London, will will combine the joint experience of both groups to create a truly outstanding summer experience for young students from around the world and will begin on 30 June 2024.
‘I have always believed in the power of partnerships to create new innovative programmes and opportunities through the synergies they bring together. We are delighted to partner with Helen and her team at Academic Summer and are looking forward to delivering programmes that will inspire students to greater heights and brighter futures,’ said college founder David Game.
